Up Late

Eler Beth started getting a headache late this afternoon.  She has prescription Motrin that she's supposed to take at the first sign of a headache.  It's been a long time since she's had a migraine, so she took a Motrin, and we didn't think anything more about it.  But right before dinner time she told me that her head was hurting worse and that her eyes felt funny.  So I sent B home and tucked Eler Beth into bed with a cool cloth on her head.

Yep, it was a migraine, though not the worst one she's had, thank goodness.  She fell asleep with her head in my lap, poor baby.  She slept for a good two hours straight.  So I've been catching up on reading and commenting in journals while she's slept.  She woke up about an hour ago, and her head feels a lot better, though the headache isn't entirely gone yet.  She's lying here watching "Babe" right now, and she just ate some grapes and drank some cola.  Like it does with me, caffeine sometimes helps her headaches.

Anyway, I thought I'd write a bit, since I'm up anyway.  I have had so many things running through my mind today that I'd like to write about; most of them are memories that have absolutely nothing to do with one another, just random little snips of memory that have been coming to me all day long. So if I start a series of unrelated entries that just seem to come from out of the blue, then you'll know why.

Well, Thomas will be getting up at 3:00 to get ready for work. Hopefully Eler Beth will have drifted back to sleep by then.  It's times like these that I'm really glad she's home schooled, because tomorrow would be rough for her if she had to get up and go off to school.  We can kind of take it easy if we need to.

More later ~ ~

Poor Eler Beth.  How sad she has to put up with migraines.  I am a stranger to headaches but experienced a few until they diagnosed me with high bood pressure. Those ones stayed for days but are long gone now.  I wish with you that there was some way of taking away the pain for her. Poor angel!  Glad she is feeling a wee bit better.
My journal entries are unrelated mostly.  I just let my thoughts ramble and out they come in print. I amaze myself somedays as to what is in there waiting for a chance at being read in the cold light of day.   Lol!
I am glad she is feeling better....Jeanie

I'm glad Eler Beth's migraine was not one of the more serious ones.  Sorry she got another one and I hope it goes away with her sleep.  Yes, a slower pace may be in order for the day.  Wish her well for us!

Nothing more painful than a migraine, except when it's your child that has one.  I know caffeine has always helped with mine as well.  Hope your day of teaching goes without pain and discomfort.  Take care of you and yours - Have a happy day!

Yes, that is so true about homeschooling...you can work at your own pace and if you need a break, you can take it without having to have an excused or unexcused absence.  I do hope Eler beth is feeling better. : )  Love, Shelly

Helmswondermom to the rescue!  There is nothing more comforting to a child in pain that the loving arms of a mommy.  Just think about all the gifts you gave your dear precious child.  YOU didn't have to go off to work the next morning, so Eler Beth never sensed frustration or annoyance from you in trying to care for her.  You are homeschooling, so SHE didn't have to worry about school in the morning.  You love the Lord, so you blessed her with prayers and compassion.  What a wonderful mommy!  Hope everyone is feeling better today.
God Bless!

Hope Eler Beth is feeling better today. I know the agony of migraine headaches, during the process of losing the last of my hearing they where unbearable to the point of me blacking out. I've heard so many wonderful things about homeschooling, I wish I had taken that path with my own daughter when she was younger. Your a wonderful , loving mother.(Hugs) Indigo

How I originally discovered that a cup of coffee can ward off an oncoming migraine, I'm a much happier person.  It's not always easy to get it down, especially if I've been delayed in my coffee brewing long enough for the nausea to start, but it's a miracle worker as far as I'm concerned.
I'm glad she's feeling better.  I can't imagine having a migrain at her age!  I didn't have my first one until I was in my 30s!

TY for commenting in my journal. :)
Sorry to hear about Eler Beth & the migraine...I have them when my TN flares up, so I know how painful they can be.
Have a good remainder of the week.
