Last weekend I did not do any crunches because of the intestinal thing I had. But I resumed them on Monday. I have still not done 50 on any one day; the most I've done was 40. And one day last week -- I can't believe I didn't mark it down on my calendar!! -- Thomas looked at me and said, "You must be doing something right, because you're looking really good!" And I do feel like my clothes are fitting more loosely. Yeah me!
This month I'd like to try something different. I think I'll alternate crunches with something else, but I don't know what. I am going to Curves two or three times a week, and I am still walking almost every day. I think I should ask for suggestions from the J-Land community, don't you? What should I do? Jumping Jacks? (At my age and after two kids -- do you think I should?) Push ups? I have some dumbbells -- perhaps I should do something with them? (Something exercise-related, I mean. Using them as paperweights isn't an option here.)
How about a poll! We all love polls!! If you think I should do something not on the poll, then feel free to start a write-in campaign.
*Note: I'm copying this post to an entry on The Best I Can Be, and I will combine the votes from both journals.

You are doing SO great, Lori! Not sure about what else to add...maybe some leg lifts? those are good for the abs, hips and thighs. another thing that might be good is sitting on the floor and doing touch-your-toe exercises. man, you're making me want to exercise...
If you can invest in one (you can get a cheap one for $20, they do go up to almost 50), I would recommend an exercise trampoline. It's amazing fun and you get an aerobic workout in less time than if you were walking. I love mine and it definitely tones up your legs and thighs. For added work on my upper arms I do stretches with light dumbbells while I'm jumping on the trampoline. I think even Eler Beth would enjoy the trampoline. Your already doing a great job, I just thought this might make it a little more fun for you. And it's not an age thing. I'm going to be 43 in a few months and I do it.(Hugs) Indigo
Wow! You are tiring me out with all this excercise talk! lol. You do whatever feels best for you. Love Pam xx
Regarding Indigo's comment below:
Well.....as long as I've just emptied my bladder. Otherwise I may want to be careful with anything involving jumping! lol
Lori
Congratulations on your success so far - isn't it wonderful to get a compliment like that!! I would do the exercises you feel most comfortable with, what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. You are doing great...and an inspiration!

Congrats Lori,
I voted pushups but only because you are walking, getting in some lower body work. Squats would be great too and anything you do with weights will be excellent for you! Of course doing 25 jumping jacks first thing in the morning would really kick start your day. How about a little bit of everything?
Martha :-)
LOL people voting for squats. Hugs,
Lisa
After discussion with Ken (who works out and lifts weights), he says the best muscle builder is chest, thighs, shoulders--in that order. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. My other suggestion was going to be jumping rope, but that is purely cardio.
Good luck--I'm still working on getting into the habit!
