Sweltering Wednesday

Locally our temps hit 102* today, with a heat index of 106*.   I just got a breaking news email that the schools in our school system are only going to have a half-day tomorrow, which is their first day of school.  I'm not surprised.  According to the Superintendant, many of the buildings are not able to keep sufficiently cool.

The air quality is particularly bad right now in our area (known as the Ohio Valley) -- and "particulately" bad, as well.  Ba dum dum!  I don't have asthma, but even I feel like I'm having trouble breathing right after I've been outside for a few minutes.

The kids and I have been a little under the weather.  Andrew started complaining of a sore throat and achy muscles on Friday.  Eler Beth followed with the same symptoms and a bad headache on Saturday, and I followed suit on Sunday, with the addition of stomach troubles.  Therefore, Saturday was the last day I went for a walk.  Sorry Martha.  But I have really been drinking a lot of water, in part because I've been sick, but also to make up for the fact that I'm not walking.  If I can get up and out early enough in the morning to escape the heat, I think I'll be up to walking again.  Thankfully Thomas hasn't seemed to have caught whatever bug we've had.

For the past two days I've done little more than lie in bed or on the couch with my laptop.  I've caught up on a lot of journal reading, and I've put together some music mixes, then burned them to CDs for Thomas and for myself.

I have kept up with the de-cluttering, though -- my car, two closets, and several cabinets.

Eler Beth's home schooling has been on an abbreviated schedule since we've both felt bad.  Perhaps tomorrow we'll catch up a little.   It's no big deal, though, since we started early, anyway.

More later!

Thank you Donna for the graphic.

Just got home from Louisville and boy was it ever HOT.  At least in KS there is a breeze.   Take care,  Anne

I forgive you, LOL! The weather here has been about the same, just brutally hot. I've been doing mostly indoor workouts too. I'm sorry to hear you're all sick. Hope you feel better soon! Martha

Hope you all feel better soon. Cute little pattern outfit. My mama could have sewn that. Paula

Yes...it's very hot here as well. I hope that you and your family get better. We had something like that going around my house too. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Lori,
It's important to drink plenty in extreme heat like that - you don't know you're losing the fluid. I think a gallon or two a day is required.

Did I comment already?  I forgot to check.  Um, I'm sorry for the scatter brain-ness I seem to be exhibiting.  You stay cool ya hear?  I can't imagine it being that hot.  I have lived in the midwest most of my life... so I will have to read about it through you and just pray you are all staying cool and getting enough water. :)

Very cool photos...have been meaning to tell you that.  Vintage patters and such.  Are they worth anything?  Have you looked on Ebay?  (In all you free time, right?)

God Bless-
Amanda

Nothing like feeling under the weather with the added bonus of extreme heat. Here's to hoping everyone soon feels better. Drinking plenty of water hopefully will lessons the effects of being sick and the heat. (Hugs) Indigo

It has been hot here, and they say that the temps are on the rise. We should be back up to the 120 by the weekend!

Way too hot!  Sorry you have been feeling sick.  You did catch up on journals, so you were productive!  LOL!  Thanks for stopping by, and I am very relieved that someone else has those random silly thoughts.  I often wonder where they come from!!!    Jae
