When Thomas got home from work yesterday he and I ran some errands, then he followed me over to our mechanic's shop (a friend of ours) where I left my car to have some things checked out. I got in his truck with him, we took off, and about three blocks from the mechanic's garage the truck decided to stop on us.
It would sound like it wanted to start, but it just couldn't quite do it. It almost sounded flooded, but it's a fuel injection motor, so it couldn't have been flooded. If our mechanic had been at his shop, it wouldn't have been much trouble, but it was after hours. So Thomas started calling friends to see if he could find someone who could come tow the truck back to the mechanic's shop.
He made three or four calls and got voice mail or answering machines each time. Then he called another friend who lived not too far away from where we were. This friend answered the phone, and Thomas asked if he had a truck at his disposal that could pull our truck. He said no, but that he'd be there to help us anyway, and that since we were only three blocks away from the mechanic's, he and Thomas could just push the truck.
Thomas said, "Oh, I'm not going to ask you to do that."
And this friend, said, "I'll be there in five minutes," and hung up.
As soon as he'd hung up, another friend called back after getting Thomas' message, and said he'd be right there with a truck.
So both guys showed up at about the same time. Between the three of them they came to the conclusion that it was the fuel pump. While they were hooking up Thomas' truck to the friend's truck, another friend called back and was getting ready to come to our aid as well. It's nice to have lots of friends; and I'll tell you what -- Thomas is a great guy, who will do anything for a friend, and these guys know it and will drop what they're doing to come to his aid as well. The last guy who called lived about 30 or 40 minutes away and was having a cookout, but was ready to come if we needed him.
Well, anyway, we pulled the truck back to the mechanic's shop, left it and retrieved my car to drive home. I took Thomas to work at 4 this morning, and am waiting to hear from the mechanic. If he can get Thomas' truck on the road today, I'll take my car back to him and switch them out.
It never rains, but it pours, doesn't it?
Our whole week has been like that; first one thing and then another. Oh well. It could always be worse. The weather is great, and I'm getting ready to go check out some yard sales. My sister from Florida is at my Mom's for a week or two, and we'll be getting down there to see her next week. So I've got plenty to be happy about. I just hope next week goes better than this past week.
Everyone have a great weekend!

Oh yes it does pay to have good friends and to be a good friend as I know you and Thomas are. Trouble comes in threes so be careful. lol Paula
It always pays to surround yourself with wonderful people who love you for you , and treat you and respect you likewise. As for the interchanging cars lol! Good thing you had a car to fall back on. I can't imagine life without wheels, I detest the bus like you wouldn't believe. (Hugs) Indigo
