She Knows What It Takes Sometimes

Yesterday afternoon Eler Beth went down the street to play with two sisters (11 and 8) who are friends of hers.  Then they decided they'd like to come down to our house to play, so she called me to get permission.  I said yes, and they came on down.  These two girls have two brothers, and the family is getting ready to move.  The boys (12 and 7) are at a day camp every day this week until 5, and the father works, so the mother just has the two girls at home with her this week.

I imagined that it was good for her to have Eler Beth down there keeping her girls occupied while she sorted and packed or to have her girls down here, but she's really funny about letting them go anywhere, even just down the street, so I was surprised she'd given them permission.

Eler Beth told me later last night that when the older girl asked their mom if they could come down, she hesitated for a minute.  Eler Beth said, "I didn't say anything. Then A said, 'Mom, it would give you some peace and quiet.' and I thought, 'She's got'er now!' "

Yes, my girl knows.  That's all it would have taken for my permission!
