I did some grocery shopping this morning. Then I came home and took some Excedrin! My goodness, I'm really getting tired of paying a fortune for basic things!
Here are the prices of three fairly basic grocery items in my neck of the woods. How much are these in your area? I'm curious to know. Write an entry and leave me a link in my comments section. Let's do a comparison across the country, shall we? I live in Southern Indiana, and as of January 28, 2008 here are the prices in my area for milk, eggs, orange juice, and gasoline. These are non-sale prices:
Milk, 1 gallon - $3.89
Eggs, 1 dozen large - $1.89
Orange juice, 1 gallon - $3.99
Gasoline - $2.92 per gallon (actually a little cheaper than last week!)
And for a bonus, I'm going to tell you what I paid for some yellow Summer squash (out of season, admittedly): $2.88 a pound!!!

Ditto for me on those prices... and can I add Folgers Columbian coffee to the list:
$9.84 here in KY just across the river from you. Everything else is about the same. Terrible prices for food. Meat seems to have gone up just since Christmas!!! Scary. It's like $6 for two pounds of ground beef, and that isn't even the good stuff... that's the medium fat content.

I pay a lot for milk because I will only buy it from the dairy. I pay $8.75 for 2 1/2 gallons. Meat is very expensive here! I swear the rest of my family will become a vegan just because we can't afford meat any more! LOL

Groceries and gasoline are high here in our small town too but we have been getting texas oranges 10 for a dollar and have we been taking advantage. They are soooo good but that won't last forever. Paula
Eggs 2.14, gas 3.00 plus, and milk 3.98-4.20, are all higher here. Who can afford Excedrin after that. lol

Cheapest gas around is $2.93.
The rest I'm not sure of at the moment. Haven't bought those items lately. But, I think they are in the same ballpark as you.

I have a diesel and my cost is $3.39 per gallon right now. I don't know about the others, I don't buy eggs or OJ and I forget what the milk was. I am a big help aren't I. ;o

OJ was a $1 cheaper here and I would say everything else is pretty close here in NY. It's ridiculious the amount of money we shell out for groceries these days. If Doc and I come in under $200 for the week that's good. It's only the two of us , albeit I do buy a lot of fresh fruit and veggies, which alone cost a leg and arm over the winter months. (Hugs) Indigo
As of today, in No. Michigan, gas is $3.05. It just went up from $ 2.86 yesterday. the milk is $3.69, the orange juice is $l.99 for frozen concentrate, and eggs are $2.19. I thought they said that the crude prices were going down!

We have a dollar store here in Phoenix where you can get produce for $1 like a sack of onions, atleast 3 green peppers, a cauliflower, sack of potatoes, etc. I shop around a lot and go to the grocery stores with the most reasonable prices for produce. My sister shops at all the stores in the Mexican districts as they have very cheap produce also, but she says that due to the clamp down on hiring illegals, places that cater to very low income Mexican and illegals are closing.
