When I wrote the part of my odds and ends entry earlier about my mother I knew there was something else that I wanted to add but couldn't remember what it was. Well, it just now came to mind, and I had to get out of bed and boot up the old computer before I forgot about it!
After Mom told me about the sweet potato/pumpkin pie thing, she said, "And yesterday Lois came in from work and got a Hershey's chocolate bar with almonds out of the refrigerator, and I thought 'Now that looks good. I'm going to have one of those.' I went to the refrigerator, got one out, sat down, opened it and took a bite, and I thought, 'That's not right!' And it was a Reece's Cup!"
I could hear my sister, Lois, laughing in the background. She told me later that she heard Mom say, "Aww, shoot!" And when Lois looked up, Mom was sitting there frowning at a Reece's Cup. She said, "I meant to eat a Hershey bar, and now I've already taken a bite out of this thing." My sister, Barbara, grandly offered to finish it for her so she could have her Hershey's with almond.
Poor Mom! We love her to pieces! I still say she is remarkable for someone her age, and I think that the seven of us are secretly to blame for her more amusing moments of confusion.
Goodnight! I think I can go to sleep now.

If you and your mom are concerned she should see her doctor , I at first agreed with you but those are some signs of dementia and I speak from first hand knowledge the better to know than wonder.
hugs

Yes, but my Mom has always done things like that. It is who she is! lol And she just recently had a complete work up and is in excellent mental and physical health. I appreciate your being concerned, though, and of course, if episodes like this should increase or other symptoms should arise, then I know my sisters would make sure she was checked out. Sometime this past year I think I did an entry on her from many years ago, and a bit of confusion about puppies and baby goats! I'll have to look that one up for you.

Poor Mom. How frustrating to know that you are losing some of your memory. My grandmothers are good for things like that too! One is 90 and the other in her late 80s.

Isn't it amazing how children can change the course of a sound mind. Thank you for sharing this. Hoping your weekend is a fun one! Take care and enjoy,
Katie
Too sweet. No pun...hehehe. Say... Share this with your mom the next time she gets a sweet tooth: mint chip ice cream, hot fudge, and warm raspberry preserves...oh my gosh. My favourite dessert. ;) C.
Hee...your sister offered to finish it for your mom. Oh, the selflessness! LOL

Mom sounds like a special lady....and yes...doing well for her age...but if she lives alone...you best be careful she doesn't get a soda to drink from fridge and find out is was a bottle of bleach from under the sink....these signs of forgetfull ness and thinking one thing and doing another...are just that "signs" ....Mom bless her heart needs careful watching....sorry to write all this....but I have been there...done that....my Mom was a blessed lady also....but her later years were painful....knowing what she was....and what she became hurt my heart desparately.....hugs and God Bless...Ora
LOL I don't like Reese's cups...so if I was ready for a Hershey's bar that would be a SHOCK!

A precious moment shared in the night. Thanks!

I remember the entry about goats and puppies. Isn't if funny when we just feel we must get up and write something or add something in our journals? I've done it too. Paula
I think I've had to get up in the night also and run to my computer before a few times too to add something here and there to my journal. Sounds like good memories here. Hope you have a happy weekend!! Thank you so much for the nice comments you left in my journal. You really cheered me up because I always think my kids' rooms are just a wreck. It was so nice to hear that Eler Beth liked Courtney's room. And yes, so fun to see what Rob will come home with next. I end up giving many things away that he finds. It's one of those overflowing blessings. God is so good to us. Beyond my reasoning. Many hugs,
Lisa
I have to go with your Mom on this one, I'd rather have the Hershey bar too! She sounds like a cool lady with a good sense of humor.
