There are probably few out there who have not already done, this, but just in case, I'll pass the word:
Dan at Slapinions has asked that all journalers who would like AOL to come up with a way for us to print our journals, to please leave a comment on this entry he wrote, which would count as a sort of online petition. I have done so, as have close to a hundred other journalers at my last count.
Bea wrote an entry on this subject here, and also made reference to Staci's (Monponsett) comment, #18 of the comments in Dan's original entry if you're interested in reading it, where she says that she foresees a day when AOL will simply decide to scrap the whole journal thing without any warning to us, and she has accordingly been copying and pasting her entries into another blog space.
So if you haven't already done so, please leave a comment on Dan's entry, and check out Mon's comment (#18) and Bea's entry as well.

The very reason I started a blog on Blogger was because I feared AOL journals would cease to exist. Although I do not copy my entries over to that site. If they poof, they poof.
I can copy a single entry on my AOL journal. I select what I want to copy; I hit CTRL+P; when the print menu comes up, I choose "selection" rather than "all". That prints what I want.
I've actually already been by and signed the petition so to say. Thanks for the heads up anyway. Dan's a pretty decent guy , if you get a chance to read his entries as well. (Hugs) Indigo
I had "signed" his petition as well, I think it is a great idea. I never gave a thought to the fact that AOL could just shut journals down - we would lose everything and I don't have a fraction of the entries some do. I hope they are listening and give us the chance to save them.

That is scary that AOL might do that. I do have the first year of mine printed, but I have like three years to go to finish printing.
Hugs,

I save all my memoir entries in my documents in the event I want to print them out, or eventually find some way to publish in book form as my other sisters have done, as well as my mother. I don't have the funds right now, but I am writing my memoirs on line because I get more stimulation from comments. I don't foresee AOL pulling the plug on the journals any time soon because they are such a big plus in content and I think community value. But I do think journalists should perhaps send appreciative comments from time to time to journal editor who will pass these on to the heirarchy. Everybody likes to get positive remarks as well as deal with complaints. Gerry
