I don't know if anyone reads this blog, but for quite a while now I have subscribed to a feed from the Library of Congress Blog. The entries are usually interesting. This morning I was catching up with them, and their most recent post is about Frank Buckles, the 107-year-old last remaining WWI veteran.
The author of the post writes about the Library's Veteran's History Project (VHP), and he wondered if the oral history of Buckles was included in their collections -- it is. Read the full article here.
My maternal grandfather was a calvaryman in WWI. He died in 1984.

Wow, 107 years old ~ who wouldn't want to just sit and talk to Frank. Imagine what he could tell us. I'm heading over to check out the link.

what a treasure...living history. thanks for the link, lori, on my way to read there, now.
The last German veteran died a few weeks ago, and the oldest French one passed away almost on the same day. The oldest British one is aged 111 now...
That is a long life to live! Wow! 107! I suppose he did deserve it!!! -Missy http://journals.aol.com/ma24179/MISSYZSTUFF
