Nice Weather For A Change

Wow, what a beautiful day we're having here!

It got close to 60° this afternoon, and made me want to get out and play in the dirt.  Unfortunately there is no dirt to play in; it's still mostly mud!  Oh well, this is just a little hint of Spring, anyway.

Thomas had said something about burning some old boxes and some scrap wood this afternoon, so Eler Beth decided that when he did she wanted to roast some marshmallows!  We have a little fire pit (or ring, actually) where we burn things like that on appropriate days, so Thomas started the fire and added some hickory chips to it, and then Eler Beth and her friend B sat out there and watched it.  Now they are roasting hot dogs and marshmallows.  I made up some hamburger patties for them, and Thomas laid a camping grill over the ring.  The fire is dying down enough now for them to grill burgers.  Thomas had thought about firing up the actual grill today, but, heck! -- if the girls want to grill burgers and hot dogs over the open fire, then I'll fix a little pasta salad to go with it, and we'll have dinner, without my having had to do much at all!

The girls are having a blast.  Isn't it great that a simple thing like watching a fire and roasting hotdogs and marshmallows can keep two little girls busy and happy all afternoon?

Andrew went to Bloomington with friends Friday night and got in late last night.  Now he is off to a Super Bowl party with friends this afternoon.   Thomas and I don't usually get into the Super Bowl, although we did watch the whole game last year -- we didn't just tune in for the commercials.

I need to do a lot of catching up on journal reading today, and journal writing as well.  I hope everyone is enjoying this Sunday.  Have a great week!

I'm glad somebody is having nice weather.  It's nasty, cloudy and wet here.

60F? You're very lucky, Lori. We had 46F, but paid for it with gales. Nice to have an outside activity in Feb!

It's the simple things in life that are the best!
Hope you're able to catch some of the game. I'll be right here in my favorite spot watching and playing in J-Land in between. Hope you can get all caught up this evening. Have a great week! Martha :-)

We had a beautiful day. Even used the AC on the way home from the ranch. Eler Beth seems to like the things girls use to like. How refreshing and Andrew is getting to be quite the little party animal. In a nice way of course. Paula

Isn't it a nice change to have some warmer weather & sunshine instead of freezing and some type of precipitation!!!  Watching the girls toasting around the fire sounds delightful ~ these are the best moments in life.

Sounds like a fun day for Eler Beth and her friend.  I used to love to play with a good fire.  Hope dinner was good.
I'm strangely drawn to the Super Bowl this year.  I lived in MA for years so I really want to see the Pats win.  I even made Super Bowl food!

We still have some snow and dread the mud when all the snow melts. :(  Wonder why hot dogs and hamburgers always taste better cooked outside?? lol Have a wonderful week. Janie

60??
Wow, a heat wave! I would love anything over 30, yep, 30 would bring out the shorts and tanks these days :o)
I love a good outdoor fire and just reading your entry has me feeling a bit winter cabin fever. But, it gives me something to look forward to.

That is awesome about the campfire and the marshmellows and all!!!  My Aaron loves to be around a campfire and just poke at the wood all day long.  We don't have a fire ring yet but I hope we will soon.  Hugs,
Lisa
