We Girls Are Having Trouble Sleeping

I was staying up a bit later than I should have been, reading journals and such, when Eler Beth came into our bedroom complaining that she was having trouble falling asleep.  Her back hurt, she said.  "I thought you were probably awake.  Will you rub my back?"

So I did, and we talked a bit, and then we started to wake up Thomas, so I suggested she go back to her bed and I'd come in there with her.  So I've been sitting here on the computer while she was supposed to be trying to go to sleep.  (She said she probably could if I was just in the room with her.)  So far, she's as wide-awake as I am.  I just made us both a cup of hot cocoa.

Friday evening the four of us went shopping and had dinner out as a family (we haven't done that in a long time).  Then we came home and watched a movie together.  It isn't often that we have Andrew at home on a Friday night nowadays.   Saturday evening he went snowboarding at Paoli Peaks.  This was a first for him.  Eler Beth worried all evening that he'd get hurt.  At one point she said, "Mom, what if he dies?!"  I said, "Well, good grief, child, I don't think that will happen!"  And she said, "Yeah, that is kind of the worst case scenario, isn't it?"   (She's so funny!)  He made it home okay, just cold and a little sore.  He had a blast, though.

Tonight he and two friends went to Covington to see Third Eye Blind in concert.   Then he's spending the night at his friend's house who is doing the driving.  He'll go to school from there tomorrow, so I won't see him until tomorrow afternoon.  Yes, he's becoming quite the little gadabout these days.  But so far he's a responsible gadabout, so I guess I can't complain.

Well, not too much else going on here.  It is very cold, but not as cold as some of you are reporting.  At least we haven't had rain for a few days.  Saturday was actually very sunny and fairly mild, but Sunday the temps took quite a dip.  I think we may even be expecting snow tomorrow.

I have a feeling Eler Beth and I are going to get quite a late start to our school day tomorrow morning.  I don't know what is wrong with us.  I guess I'll close for now.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Wow you guys are up really late! I hope you are able to sleep a little bit at least. If not...at least you know you'll sleep good tomorrow night, right?
Find a good boring book and lay down and before you know it you'll be asleep! Good luck!

Oh, those nights when the mind just won't stop working -- awful.  You girls may get a late start, but it might be kind of fun to sleep in a bit.

You paint such a wonderful family picture, she is so lucky to have such an understanding mom.  How sweet she is worrying about Andrew, awe.

I have been pacing the floor during the wee hours of the night lately ~ I think my mind has too much on it to take some time off. Your night out together as a family sounds wonderful. Hope your week is good to you. Take care and enjoy,
Katie

My schedule seems very upside down these past few months as well.  I think I got over excited about the holidays and all the stuff to do, and bored with getting up early to make phone calls.... and also the mortgage will make me worry if I think on it so I read too much late at night... and so on... plus for some reason I am wide awake doing stuff at night I can't get done when the kids are awake.  LOL.  Hugs,
Lisa

I hope you both manage to get a good night's sleep tonight. I went to peek through the blind's at the loud chatty voices coming from the garden and discovered It's my wee treasure and some friends! Let's hope she doesn't go speaking too loudly now that "mamma" can hear her! lol. Love Pam xx

Try melatonin -- it works wonders for me.  It can make the dreams a little intense, but I always sleep through the night.

Guido said it we're all insomniacs.....I think for me it's needing some fresh air, but going outside isn't an option when your face feels burnt from the cold. I took Pickles out the other day she did her thing, came running in the house, ran upstairs and to her bed and scooted underneath her blanket. It was hysterical....

Eler Beth always cracks me up with her logic. Sounds like Thomas is enjoying his young adulthood. (Hugs) Indigo

Well, that's one of the good points about home schooling isn't it? I'd love to have the freedom to get a late start now and then.
