That phrase has been going through my head since yesterday. During math Eler Beth needed to be reminded of the "order of operations", and this is a mnemonic phrase we learned to help us remember. (parentheses {or brackets}, exponent, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction). But it's a strange little ditty to have playing in your mind all day long.
It finally rained here -- a little bit Wednesday, a bit more on Thursday, and all day today, albeit mostly drizzling. It has been a good day to goof off, and that's what I've been doing. I've caught up pretty well with journals today. I read some. I ran some errands. I helped Eler Beth cull some more unnecessary articles from her room this afternoon. I like cleaning on a rainy day. Right now I'm having a cup of coffee and an oatmeal raison cookie.
While I was cleaning today I was listening to my iPod. Sometimes I like to listen to specific artists or genres of music, but sometimes I put it on shuffle and listen to whatever comes up, which can make for a strange line up. That's what I did today, and it occurred to me once again what a mixed-up collection of songs I have on it. So I thought I would share 10 with you today. (I'll share another ten another time). These are the last 10 songs I listened to today:
1) A Long December -- Counting Crows (contemporary)
2) Take it on the Run -- REO Speedwagon
3) The Best of Times -- Styxx
4) Hands -- The Raconteurs (I LOVE this song!! Thank you, Moongirl9, for introducing me to it!)
5) I'm Happy Just to Dance With You -- The Beatles
6) What A Lucky Man He Was -- Emerson, Lake & Palmer (70s)
7) Everlasting Friend -- Blue October (contemporary)
8) Eight Days A Week -- The Beatles
9) Hate Me -- Blue October (contemporary)
10) Sky High -- Jigsaw (70s)
Do any of those ring a bell?

Sky...hiiiiiigh! Oh my God, I haven't thought of that song in years! LOL Remember "The Night Chicago Died" by Paper Lace? Hee hee!
I pride myself on my eclectic musical tastes--everything from Johnny Cash to Dean Martin to The Clash. Jazz, zydeco, bluegrass, punk rock, it's all good. About the only thing I really don't much care for is modern country.
Hey, do you like Lyle Lovett? He has a little bit of a country twang, but he's got a lot more going on than that.
We've gotten rain the past couple of days, and what a relief! Sometimes rainy days are good.
Sounds like a nice start to the weekend...enjoy!
Love, Beth
Only the Beatles jog my memory. Anne
I remember that -Please excuse my dear Aunt Sally lol - unfortunatly I don't remember the math anymore lol.
The Beatles and Reo Speedwagon and Styxx are the only ones I know!
Love,
Michelle
We got some serious rain here today! Glad to hear about your day!

It rained all day here in TN also. Have a great weekend.

What a lucky man he was; and eight days a week rang a bell with me; the other ones I knew most of the groups that did them, but was clueless on the songs
seems like a good day to spend a rainy day; especially the raisin cookie :)
I'm still trying to remember what an exponent is as it comes to math; so thankfully my kids are out of school, I would be lost trying to teach them
enjoy your weekend :)
(that was a neat Bible verse you left in my journal; thank you for it :)
betty
Math(Algebra on up) and I never got along very well.
No Ipod here but I've got REO, Styx, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Blue October. I think the Raconteurs are still on a very long wish list I have for music. It's almost as long as my book wish list.
:) Leigh
Blue October is one of my favorite bands ~ I have all of their cd's and have put them on my Ipod & MP3 as well. I am never far from Justin & the boys. ;)

I love your ipod selections.... yes quite a few ringing a bell for me. Look how cute that graphic is.... okay I'm coming over for coffee and cookies. Hugs,
Lisa
Strange as it may seem the ditties usually confused me more....(thinking of the flies buzzing around upstairs in her head)...I found your line up interesting. I love the Counting Crows I had somewhat forgotten about them. It's something that I'm trying NOT to do, but find it difficult at times. When you have an IPOD, or music around you, the radio, stereo etc. you tend to be reminded of songs or bands you liked. Not being able to hear those reminders, leaves it up to whatever is upstairs. And as I said in the beginning, I'm not always too bright with the subject of memory. I'm trying to collect lyrics/songs that are meaningful to me, to keep as a reminder. Maybe I should keep a separate journal to share those songs as well....something to think about. (Hugs)Indigo
You do love music, listening to all these songs. You remind me of Doc whose day is not complete unless he listens to his favorite music, usually jazz. I feel I am really not very musical compared to you two Doc used to walk around homeless listening to music all day long. I read read when I have a spare moment. My son Raymond takes his love of music from his father gene. He has been making his living all summer singing for the customers in a lodge and a cafe. Doc doubts it's very much, but he is getting rent free, and altough his kind of music might not be Doc's kind, I love it that they both love music, and you as well. Gerry
I remember that catch phrase when i was younger. You like the smae music as me. I love the Beatles!! HUgs, Christine
#3 was my high school graduation theme song! I am so old! LOL!
