When the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw ~~ Hamlet, Act II, Scene II

The winds have died down.  I went outside with Eler Beth to take a look at things; limbs everywhere!  Two of my neighbors were out.  They have no electricity across the street, but ours is still on.

Our neighbor on one side has several large limbs (I keep wanting to spell that "lymb" -- I don't know why!) down, and on the other side, there is one trunk split from a tree that grows close to their garage.

I was standing at my kitchen window when I witnessed a tree splitting across the creek from us.  Thomas is going to have to get out his chainsaw, and Eler Beth is going to have plenty of wood for her fire pit.  As a matter of fact, she's off down the street negotiating with some neighbors for their downed limbs.

We have had no rain yet.  It has been a rather restful day, even with all the wind.  I've piddled around, played on the computer, done a little housework, and got dinner going.

I find it so bizarre that you got wind and no rain, and for us, it was vice versa. The pressure of the system? The direction of movement?? I wonder about things like that. I hope no one was hurt in your neck of the woods, and I'm glad you didn't lose power!

We got a few days of heavy rain, Fri night was full of tornados all around us, & today the wind has been unreal. And I live in NW MO. Weird, huh?

My day has been about the same as yours -- a little of this and a little of that, lots of computer time in between. Isn't it funny how strange things appear all over the place in high winds. One year during a tropical storm we had a fiberglass shower stall land in our front yard! Hope your electricity stays on! Stay safe and comfy! Martha :-)

I'm glad you didn't have any damage.  We had tremendous wind this morning and then some rain, but all is quiet now and I don't see any damage anywhere.

Knew that Ike would bring some wind to your neck of the woods, Lori - must still have been quite strong to down branches.

I love my fire pit!  I'm glad to find someone else who loves hers too.  (Marshmallows are always on hand here).

We've had about four days of rain.  There were some tornado warnings around, but none for my country.  Interesting how these hurricanes affect even the midwest.  Our total rainfall for the past few days?  Five inches.

The winds had pretty much died down by the time Ike arrived here, we've just had rain all day.

lymb...lymph?  Have you been reading medical books?

I'm in San Antonio and we got next to nothing for weather.  I expected at least something..... instead, it was 90 degrees at 9:00PM.  Ugh...

Greetings from Soggy Bottom!  Yeah, we got rain, also.
but nothing like you all got .  I saw the path on the map
from Beth's journal entry.  I hope hurricane season will
soon end, but that means snow and ice on the way.

Lucky for you the power is still surging away to your house and you didn't have any damage.  I hope Eler Beth made out well on her quest for limbs.

I sure wish you lived closer. I could give Eler Beth enough wood to last a year. We have several huge trees and limbs down from the wind. Glad you all didn't lose electricity and have much damage.
